WHAT IS THE STUDY?
The study is to understand the molecular drivers of poor outcomes in patients with community acquired pneumonia who are hospitalized. We are interested in understanding why some patients with pneumonia develop organ dysfunction, such as acute kidney injury or acute respiratory distress syndrome, while others do not. In this study, we will consent hospitalized patients with pneumonia and obtain blood, urine and bronchoalveolar lavage samples to complete genomic analyses.
WHAT ARE THE GOALS OF THE STUDY?
The goal of the study is to improve our understanding of the molecular determinants of organ dysfunction in patients hospitalized with pneumonia.
