What is the study?
The Mobile Strategy for Improving Eye Health of Kidney Patients Treated with Dialysis (SIGHT) study is a cluster-randomized clinical trial that will rigorously test an innovative, scalable, multi-level strategy to improve eye care for dialysis patients that “meets patients where they are” – with mobile eye examinations in dialysis units.
What are the goals of the study?
The overall goal is to improve eye care and vision-related quality of life. Kidney failure, defined as loss of kidney function requiring dialysis, kidney transplantation, or conservative management of uremic symptoms, affects over 800,000 persons in the United States. People with kidney failure have high risks of vision-threatening eye diseases, but these eye diseases are currently inadequately diagnosed and treated.
