The Inaugural Breakthrough T1D Pacific Northwest Gala at the luxurious Fairmont Olympic Hotel celebrated T1D Community Honoree, Dr. Irl Hirsch, for his tremendous contributions to the diabetes community throughout his career. KRI Director Dr. Ian de Boer was in attendance to honor Dr. Hirsch.

Dr. Irl Hirsch, a world-renowned diabetes expert, revolutionized care through innovations in insulin therapy and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM). His work has transformed diabetes treatment globally, and he remains a strong advocate for affordable access to these life-saving technologies. After decades of service, Dr. Hirsch retired from his clinical practice at the UW Diabetes Institute, which he started in 1990.
