what is the ASSESS-AKI study?
This is a national research study of individuals who were hospitalized and experienced an acute kidney injury (AKI), matched with those who were hospitalized and did not.
What are the goals of the study?
The goals are to determine whether hospitalized persons who experience an episode of AKI have a (1) greater risk of developing chronic kidney disease, a faster progression of pre-existing CKD, or (2) have a higher risk of death, cardiovascular, or other adverse events after discharge.
