Biography

At 41 years old, Marla, a mother to 1- and 3-year-old daughters, devoted wife, and full-time medical sales worker; had her life turned upside down. Within 18 days, she underwent three open-heart surgeries and spent six of those days on life support during end-stage kidney failure. After seven weeks in the hospital, she was finally able to come home but remained under constant care. She spent several months relearning how to walk and live independently and had several near-fatal experiences with an outpatient dialysis unit. However, Marla triumphed against impossible odds, which she attributes to hope, optimism, kindness, and modern medicine and devices.
