Research Interests

Our laboratory is interested in the mechanisms underlying susceptibility to organ dysfunction and death in the setting of severe infection and injury. In particular, we are currently performing studies directed at identifying genetic loci that contribute to acute lung injury and acute kidney injury in settings of sepsis and trauma using genome-wide approaches. We are also using next-generation sequencing approaches to identify low-frequency exonic variants that contribute to the severity of acute lung injury. On a more basic level, we are interested in the identification of genetic loci that modulate gene expression during an innate immune inflammatory response.
