What is the study?

The Epidemiology of Diabetes Interventions and Complications (EDIC) Study is a longitudinal observational follow-up study of the landmark Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT).

The DCCT, from 1983-1993, proved conclusively that intensive glycemic control reduces the risks of multiple type 1 diabetes complications, including kidney disease.

The University of Washington has long been a site for participants in DCCT/EDIC, which is still ongoing. University of Washington investigators have led and contributed to multiple papers focused on kidney and other outcomes.
