RESEARCH LED BY LEILA ZELNICK ASSESSES THE INCLUSION OF RACE ON KIDNEY TRANSPLANT ELIGIBILITY

Kidney transplant is associated with improved survival and quality of life among patients with kidney failure. However, some have been noted racial disparities in transplant access. Leila Zelnick, PhD and her KRI nephrology colleagues asked the question: Is adjusting for Black race in estimating equations for glomerular filtration rate in patients with chronic kidney disease associated with a delay in kidney transplant eligibility? Their findings were published in JAMA Network Open.
